Information for manufacturers

The primary purpose of the RHI compliant heat meter database is to support the UK Government Renewable Heat Incentive (RHI) by providing independent verification of the Measuring Instruments Directive (MID) compliance and relevant characteristics of heat meters suitable for use by customers wishing to claim the RHI.

For entries in the database we will verify that the evidence of conformity to the MID and other test data submitted have been produced or accepted by an appropriately qualified Notified Body (an accredited test house subject to European Standards for quality control and operations) under the Measuring Instruments Directive (MID).

The submission of a heat meter or component will cost £200. For each size listed a £20 admin fee will be charged to cover the cost of reviewing the submission pack and supporting information and uploading the data onto the database. As an example: £200 will be charged for the submission of meter ABC, an additional £20 will be charged for each of the sizes available under that model (e.g. 15mm, 28mm and 40mm) totalling £60. The total cost will therefore be £260 for that submission. Please note a retainer fee of £50 per meter/component model (e.g. heat meter ABC) is payable each year thereafter.

Independent certification of evidence of MID compliance and technical datasheets will be required. We will carry out an initial review of your product submission and will issue you with an estimate of costs. You will be asked to supply a valid Purchase Order for that amount so that a corresponding invoice can be raised. Please note that your product information will not actually be uploaded before the relevant invoice has been paid.

If you have a large application, please contact us so that we can find the most cost-efficient mechanism to cover your submission.
