The Renewable Heat Incentive or RHI is a Government money-back scheme to encourage homes, businesses and other organisations to use renewable heat sources to heat buildings and processes.
If you are eligible for the RHI, you can be paid for every kWh of heat you generate using a renewable technology, for the duration of the RHI.
The RHI is available is two schemes:
- Non-Domestic RHI - this includes industrial, commercial, not-for-profit organisations, communities and the public sector, as well as district heating schemes (where the heating system serves multiple homes)
- Domestic RHI - this includes homeowners, private and social landlords (where the heating system serves a single household), and self-build homes
